That was what I ended up seeing going through Diana’s perks. This was the typical first level palate. I felt a bit disappointed. I had hoped that because she was a half-demon, she might have another range of skills outside of the set group the minions started with. Unfortunately, it turned out extremely unremarkable.
Looking through her abilities, I decided that given my goals for her, there was only one ability that made sense. I didn’t just want to select it though, so I discussed it with her mother first.
“Female Demon, is it?” Elizabeth asked while Diana looked on with interest.
Diana had returned to the room once Charack left, and for some reason ended up leveling upon seeing me with Daphne. Now that she was level 2, I felt that Female Demon was the next step for her. This wasn’t because she was already half-demon. If anything, she might come to express demon parts whether I select this or not. In a way, it could be considered wasteful.
That made me want to select it more because it would ultimately hide her half-demon heritage from her mother. I had decided that Elizabeth shouldn’t find out that her last time with her husband had been with a demon. I couldn’t even begin to imagine where that would put her mental state. As the current emotional center of our small group, I couldn’t afford to have her losing her sense of self. It was a bit cruel letting her continue to live the lie, but I felt like it would be crueler exposing the truth.
There was a second more practical reason toward picking this though. I was training Diana not to be a prostitute, but to manage the store. The problem was that demons didn’t respect humans or other lifeforms. If Diana appeared as a Demon, then her words would have more sway. With time, if I could convince the other demons of her demoness, then she’d be able to take care of the shop, buy supplies herself, and afford all the rights other demons had.
I was thinking even beyond this though. She was a half-demon. That meant that once this plan of mine took off, and women started getting pregnant under demons, there would be more half-demon women appearing. Demons who had all been male prior would start to struggle with the appearance of a female demon. That was, of course, unless there was already a highly known and accepted demon woman to set the precedent. In a way, Diana would be the leader and matriarch to the entire female demonic race. She would be setting the standard. It was a lot to put on a young girl’s shoulders, but if anyone could take it, I thought it was Diana.
“I can’t say what will happen to her body,” I answered honestly. “Will she gain demonic strength as a result of the demon process? Will her skin change color? Will she grow horns? All of this is possible. However, for the sake of her future, I believe that being a demon will give her the best chance.”
Elizabeth patted her daughter on the head and gave a gentle smile as she always did. “I will accept what Master thinks is best.”
“What about you, Diana?”
“I will be a demon!” She declared, gesturing to herself with her thumb in a grand fashion.
“Then, I will select it.”
I did select it on the menu, but ultimately nothing happened. I frowned, but even after watching for five minutes, there was no change.
“Am I a demon now?”
“Ask me that in the morning,” I responded, turning to Elizabeth and opening up her menu.

Psychic – Read Minds
Call to Victory – Ignites bloodlust in allies while damaging willpower of opponents.
Erase – Make a target forget a part of their memory.
Mind Flay – Break a person’s mind.
Mind Flay seemed like it would have helped with Daphne, but it seemed a bit scary to me. Erase seemed like a more practical ability. I had also considered giving her regeneration since she often put a lot of stress on her body working for me. If she healed quicker, then she wouldn’t be as stressed with her current quota of work.
However, I knew Elizabeth pretty well by now, and I knew that if I made it so she healed faster, she’d only work harder as a result. The end would be dumping more and more on her, and I didn’t want that. So, I decided to avoid this skill with her. Pain and physical damage were there so you understood your limits, so I definitely wouldn’t touch either of those skills and turn Elizabeth into something dangerous.
With the lieutenant coming in a few hours though, my eyes went back to erase. It did seem like the best option. If I had issues with him, I could just make him forget coming here. I nodded, and after telling Elizabeth what I was going to select, and having her nod and once again say it was always my choice, I gave her the Erase ability. She was getting to a level where she could control minds. That was getting a bit scary.
The next person to check was Alleya.
Female Demon – Skin turns color (random), and gains horns, appearing like a demon.
Regeneration – Heals from wounds and physical damage quicker. It does not include internal injuries or amputations.
Incubator – Gains extremely high fertility.
Hair Control – No need to shave. Hair only grows where you want it.
Pain Reduction – Feels less pain. Higher pain threshold.
Low Metabolism – Needs to eat less. Can go days without eating.
Iron Stomach – Can eat anything. Gain sustenance from items.
Photographic Memory – Can remember anything they’ve seen.
Fearless – Possesses no fear.
Demonic Rage – Strength amplifies the level of willpower.
Resilience – Increased Constitution and Fortitude. High resistance toward poison, cold, heat, and increased survivability toward stress.
Obedience – Follows orders with exceptional precision.
As always, I saw new paths opening up after each selection. Demonic rage sounded like a superman ability. She could seemingly grow as strong as her willpower allowed. That would allow her to be stronger than other demons, at least when she was angry or passionate enough. Resilience also seemed like a pretty decent ability. It would make her much more durable. If she did ever have to get into a fight, it seemed to make sense that durability would come into play.
However, there was a third ability that appeared, Obedience. If selecting a Demon’s Strength unlocked Demonic Rage and Resilience, then where had the third appeared from? Elizabeth had never gotten a third ability before. That was when I realized that for Alleya, I had selected two different “1st tier” abilities, while with Elizabeth, I always picked one of the new abilities gained. If I was right, It meant that there was an entire hidden path of abilities that only appeared when you combined two pre-existing abilities of the same class. So, Obedience was Moral mixed with Demon’s Strength.
Either way, I was trying to turn her into a footsoldier or something like that. If it came to a fight, and she was forced to participate, my biggest worry was that she’d be disfigured and unable to work. Thus, I decided to pick Regeneration for her. That way, if she did get hurt at all while protecting the brothel, at least the damage would go away quickly. I might pick resilience in the future, but between the two, I found regeneration to be a favorable ability.
I also was interested if this would result in her having four new abilities next level. Two for regeneration, 1 for Regeneration mixed with Demon’s Strength, and one for Regeneration mixed with Moral. Maybe I’d even see a fifth that mixed all three. It was worth selecting regeneration first. I let her know what I chose.
“Why do I never get to have a choice in the matter?” Alleya complained.
I didn’t bother to answer.
