Demon World’s Brothel - Demon World's Brothel – Chapter 73
As you can see, I am upgrading/changing this novel in a few ways. STD will become The Demon World’s Brothel. I had to reread the whole story cause it had been so long, but as I did I fixed various plotholes. The biggest change is really a few chapters ago. I had them level up and gain skills, although if you don’t want to read it, this chapter dicusses those skills here. So, unless you want to see the status, you’ve missed nothing. I have four more chapters at the moment to write as sponsor chapters. After that, we’ll see. My thought is to release this on scribblehub publicly and then offer $10 as a sponsor only series, so this will be a pay to release story for the public. Since the chapters are small and the amount I’m asking isn’t too unreasonable, this is an experiment that might work.
“What did you say?”
“I said I need 500 dragons,” I responded.
“No, I heard you the first time.” Lieutenant Dire winced. “I was just hoping that I heard you incorrectly.”
“We discussed this last week. You asked if you could help, and I said I needed money.”
“I got you the alcohol license. That isn’t enough?” He looked at me helplessly.
“Sal has been planning his riot likely as long as I’ve been planning my recruitment,” I explained. “If you think it will stop with this much, you’re mistaken.”
“You think he’s planning a revolt?” Lieutenant Dire asked, worry creasing his face.
“If your biggest opposition was a military faction who claims to wish to protect humanity, what would be the easiest way to discredit them?” I asked.
Alleya gasped. “You get them to move against humanity!”
I nodded. “If this riot grows to that point, you will be ordered to suppress the humans violently. At that point, not only will the humans no longer trust you, but the demons will decide that your new pro-human policies are misplaced. They will backtrack their recent agreement to allow humans to work for food and clothing, and perhaps even entertain Sal’s slavery model.”
“Damn it!” He hit the wall, surprising me. “Don’t those girls know we’re trying to help them? Why would they sell out their entire race for a plate of food?”
I had never seen Dire angry before. Somehow, even his anger looked beautiful. It was annoying.
“When you sit at the bottom, it’s difficult to tell who up top has your best interests at heart. Everyone looks like the enemy. Those that try to help you the most seem the most suspicious.” I glanced at the girls. “At least, that’s what they suggest.”
“Do you have a solution?” Lieutenant Dire asked.
“Yes. 500 dragons.”
Lieutenant Dire winced. “If I was Sal, such a cost would be nothing. However, I have to maintain an army, and such a thing would make it difficult to meet their next payday. If I don’t give them pay, the army is going to have a greater problem than losing credibility.”
“Then, perhaps my loan can come with some benefits,” I offered. “A standing discount for soldiers…”
It pained my heart a bit to offer such a thing, but I needed the army on my side now if I wanted to survive. It was too late for me to stand on the sidelines, as Dire pointed out himself. I watched him as he contemplated his choice. After a bit, he gave a nod.
“Alright, I’ll get the coin. Give me a bit.”
Lieutenant Dire left some troops to protect the entrance, while he rode off with a group of men. We opened our shop as normal, but not only did no women enter to engage in the tryouts, but no demons entered to give us business either.
“Mm.. Mmm…” Luna whined.
“Why is she whimpering?” I asked, feeling slightly irritated.
“Luna thinks you will starve her tonight if she doesn’t make any money,” Elizabeth explained. “Ah! How do I know that?”
“Ah, that’s right, I forgot to tell you. You may be able to read minds shortly.”
“R-really?” Elizabeth blinked and then looked at me carefully. “I can’t read what Master is thinking though.”
“Well, that’s a given,” I snorted. “If you could use your ability on me, then you wouldn’t be my minion.”
“D-do I have a new ability?” Alleya asked.
“You have resilience. Your body is more resistant.”
She sighed. “It seems Master is still turning me into some kind of monster. I’m a princess, you know?”
“What is this shit about abilities?” Daphne asked.
“Master grants us abilities as an award for serving him well,” Elizabeth explained.
That wasn’t completely true, but it was fine if that was how they interpreted it.
“Abilities? What kind of abilities? Do I have abilities?”
“Abilities like this.” Elizabeth lifted a hand, and a glass on one of the tables flew off it and to her hand.
“M-magic! When do you learn magic? Wait, why can she cast magic in here?”
“I-it’s not magic. I can just… move things with my mind when I think about it. It’s like a muscle…”
“You’ve been practicing.” I nodded in approval.
Before, she could barely move things.
Elizabeth blushed. “In case Master ever needs it, I want to be ready.”
“Did you give me any magic?” Daphne demanded.
“Don’t you already know magic?” I asked. “Besides, only grant abilities to those loyal to me. You’re just a pain.”
“Eh? I can be loyal! I’ll loyal your balls off!” She got on her knees, reaching for my pants.
Before she could get there, a knee struck her in the face. She collapsed to the ground as Alleya stood in front of her. Alleya glared down at her.
“You idiot! That’s not loyalty. That’s just being a whore!”
Daphne sat up, a pout. “You going easy on me?”
“Eh? Do you want a beating?” Alleya kicked her.
“I barely felt that…” Daphne whined.
“That’s right, I gave her pain reduction.” I snapped my fingers. “I got sick of seeing her perverted expression while she’s being stomped on.”
“Eh? Master…” Daphne looked hurt for the first time. “Wh-why would you do that?”
“That means I have to go harder to make her feel pain?” Alleya asked.
“I-I suppose… but don’t kill her…” I responded helplessly.
“Don’t worry.” Alleya cracked he knuckles as she grabbed Daphne and started folding her in ways she shouldn’t be folded.
“Ahhh… ooo… yeeeeaaaassss…” Daphne moaned.
“Well, that skill was a bust.” I sighed.
“Master, did I get a new skill?” Diana asked.
“No,” I responded, seeing her mood grow depressed. “It’s not intentional. You just haven’t met the loyalty requirements to level.”
“Eh? I can be loyal!” She grabbed me tearfully.
I scratched my cheek. “It’s not like I don’t want to give you skills, but as much as you say words, the loyalty must come from inside.”
Diana didn’t feel anything inside as a sociopath, so it was a bit more difficult to win her true loyalty. That was probably for the best. If I gave her abilities and she truly did have no loyalty toward me, then she might leave. I didn’t think that was the case, but I’d trust the system god created, even if it did have glitches.
“If loyalty is required, I wonder how quickly Luna would level,” Elizabeth mused.
She was right. Luna’s loyalty was food-based. If I gave her a few meals, I could probably have her level ten in a month. She looked at me curiously, her tail wagging a bit. In the end, I shook my head.
“I have one minion spot, but I’m saving it for a certain someone.”
I couldn’t help but think of Rhea, the strange lady working under Sal. If I could obtain her, she promised Sal would fall. That could all be stuff she made up, but I had to give it a shot. At the least, I knew it was better if she was on my side than against it. That was next week’s problem. For the moment, I had to deal with the riot outside.
Half the day passed as the crowds continued to grow. Remarkably, no one had broken a window yet, but various unpleasant things were being thrown at the brothel itself that someone would have to clean up.
There was commotion outside, and the crowd was forced to open up. It was Lieutenant Dire returning with a group of soldiers holding a large box. That must be the dragons I had requested. With that box, I’d have a little more than 1100 dragons. With it, I had to make a change that would propel Devon’s Watering Hole into the next phase of the sex market, and also perform a crushing blow to Sal’s riot. My plan was ready to begin.
