Hawtness - Hawtness – Volume 5 – Chapter 9
I felt down at my crotch area and made a sigh of relief. I was me again.
“Do the two of you need a few moments?” Alex asked, winking at me.
I pulled my hand up like I had been burned, a blush forming on my cheeks. Fortunately, the other guys weren’t around. Alex was back to her usually girl form, looking like my sister once again. It felt weird seeing her as anything but my sister. In my mind, when Alex was in her boy form, I didn’t even really see him as the same person. It was like two different people, the boy in hawtness that I considered a friend, and my sister whom I hung out with after school.
The guys were in another room, finishing their transformations back to normal. Once Allan had gotten the device back up and running, no one had wanted to volunteer to be first. It ended up being Daniel to be the first test subject. Once he had lost his voluptuous body, to be replace with different kinds of curves, the rest of the guys were quite eager to change back. I made them change me first, simply on principal. I did all the work, after all. Allan was still working on getting everyone back to normal. The gender redistributor had a cool down period so it took some time.
“So are you going to go to the dinner tonight?” I asked Alex, trying to put my mind off the guys.
Alex shook her head, “I don’t want to be involved with that. I’m not really fond of hell and try to avoid any reminders of the place.”
“I’m surprised. I thought you’d love a chance to meet up with Rune’s dad. It’ll help with getting him to accept you as his future wife.”
“Wi-wife?” Alex went pale, “What are you talking about?”
“Hmm? I thought you were into Rune. I mean, that’s why you look like that, right?”
Alex winced, which still looked cute through her long bangs, “No. I haven’t been interested in Rune in a long while, besides, I think he’s into you.”
“Me?” I realized where this was going; Alex didn’t want to compete with me, “He was just attracted to the way I look. That was coincidence. You look the same way. Plus you’ve known him so much longer. I mean we’re friends, but he never gives me the time of day. He’s not into me.”
“You can be real dense sometimes. I think if you really looked at it, you’d find Rune likes you far more than you think.” Alex bit her lip as if she was fighting the urge to say something else.
“What is it?”
“I don’t look like this for Rune’s sake.”
“What do you mean? Of course you do, you changed into that form the moment you saw him!”
“Maybe, initially, but I didn’t stay in this form for that reason. I turn into what the person I like the most wants, their deepest desire.”
“Alex, what are you trying to say?”
Alex turned her head, meeting my eyes, “It’s you, Jane.”
“What?”
“You wanted a big sister. That was your deepest desire. You wanted siblings. It’s in my nature to fulfill the need of the person I love. That person was you.”
“Alex, I-”
Alex turned away. “I know you’re not interested in me in that way, but I can’t help the fact that I love you. No, I’m in love with you. You matter more to me than anyone ever has. Before I met you, I was just a wondering demon. I manipulated people and cheated. I had no home and no family. You gave me that.”
Tears began to run down her cheeks. I moved to comfort her, then stopped. Alex loved me? I didn’t really know how to take that. I loved her too, but as a friend and a sister. I felt like I should say something, but my tongue was glued to the roof of my mouth.
“But it’s okay, you know?” Alex continued, wiping the tears with her sleeve, “because I know you love me too. It might not be the same kind of love, but it’s something that will last far longer and is far deeper. Boys come and go, but sisters are around for life.”
I finally worked the courage to move up to and hug her. Alex hugged me back, our arms wrapped around each other. A tear fell down my cheek, and the wetness on my shoulder suggested she was still crying as well. After we sat like that for a few minutes, I pulled away from her, my hands on either shoulder.
“I do love you. Your my sister, no, my family. No matter what happens, no matter what the future holds, you will always be my family.”
Alex reached up, grabbing my right hand still resting on her shoulder and squeezing it. I turned my hand and squeezed back. The door opened without a knock, Rune strolling in it with an agitated look on his face.
“Can you talk some sense into Andrew? He’s being unberab- is there a problem?” Rune stopped when he noticed the tears on our faces.
“Nothing, just girl talk.” I responded.
“Yeah, girl talk, no boys allowed,” Alex tried to put on a smile and stuck out her tongue playfully.
“Yeah, I guess I’m five minutes late for that,” Rune put his hand up to his chest and then let it drop with a relieved sigh.
“So what is Andrew doing now?” I redirected his attention.
“Oh, right! He’s insisting on coming to the dinner. I keep telling him it’s ridiculous. He’s going to glare at them or say something inappropriate and piss off the Demon King, the exact thing we’re trying not to do.”
“He’s a Demon King,” Andrew responded angrily from the room beyond, “He’ll be infinitely more likely to be inappropriate and rude.”
Rune pointed back out the door, “You see what I mean?”
I thought about it for a few moments, “You know, having an Angel around might not be so bad, especially if there is a need.”
“What?” Rune screeched, his voice rising an octave, “How could you side with him?”
“Hey, Jane agrees, live with it,” Andrew responded cockily.
“Of course, it does depend on if Andrew can control himself,” I added, causing the smile to slip off his face just a bit.
Rune sighed, “I guess I have no choice, the girl has decided.”
“There is no changing her mind,” Andrew nodded in agreement.
I frowned at the both of them. I felt like they were making a private joke at my expense. Then I felt a tug on my sleeve. I glanced to my side to see Daltom back in in his normal boy form. When did he even enter the room? I didn’t see him come in.
“Sister, I need to talk to you for a minute, in private.”
The tone of his voice caught me off guard. He seemed mature and professional for a second, much like he had when he had dragged me back in time almost a half year ago. I nodded to Andrew and Rune, who seemed to be acting way too chummy for my comfort, and let Daltom drag me out into the hallway.
“What is it, Daltom?” I asked.
Daltom shifted uncomfortably for a second, and then lowered his eyes, “I’ve been meaning to tell you for some time now, but I need to go.”
“Go?”
“Go back, to the future.”
“When?”
“Now.”
I made a noise of protest and my eyes widened. He was leaving so soon? It felt like he had barely even been here. I knew he hadn’t learned to be tough like his uncles yet, as he called it. However, I had come to see him as a constant in my life. Just like Alex, I didn’t want to see him go anywhere.
“What? Why now? Why can’t you stay?”
Daltom winced at the barrage of questions, “It’s going to become too dangerous. What happens next… it’s a big deal. If I’m here, I could potentially alter events. That could rip a hole in the fabric of time and space.”
“Yeah, but you won’t change anything. Isn’t that what my future husband suggested. Whatever will happen, already has happened.”
“In most cases, yes. However, this event is too important. The future depends on it directly. I can’t be present for what you have to go through next.”
“I…” I began, but then changed what I was going to say, “Will you let the others know?”
Daltom shook his head, “I was hoping you could. I’m not good with goodbyes. Besides, it’s not really goodbye. You’ll see me again, one day.”
“Wh-what about mom?”
“I’ve already erased her memory of me. It’ll be for the best.” Daltom nodded.
“I’ll miss you.” I let out, my voice breaking for a second.
Daltom flung his hands around my waist, and I gave him a hug back. I ignored the fact that the hug put his face nuzzled in my breasts. After a moment, he broke away. There was a tear on his face, and part of me wanted to cry to. Even if he was just a half step brother or whatever relation he was, I didn’t want to see him go.
Daltom pulled out a small box. It was a ring box! I gasped. That was going a little too far. We were family, what the heck did he think he was doing. Oh god, he was going to propose.
“Daltom, no! We’re siblings. That would be completely improper. I mean, I think you’re cute. But cute like you might thing a bunny is cute. We can’t possibly do anything like that. We may not be related by blood but I’m too young and we can-”
“Sis, it’s not a ring.”
I was sure my face turned completely red. It was Samantha and the other damn boy’s faults. They kept making comments about how Daltom was really into me and led me to think this kind of way. He was cute, why was he my half-brother? Of course, he wasn’t related by blood. Why did I even think that? What the hell was wrong with me?
“Then what is it?” I asked, trying to distract myself.
“Think of it as a last resort. Don’t open it unless you have no other option.”
I took the box from his hands, eyeing it up and down. What did he mean by that?
“Daltom, I don’t know.”
“Shhh,” Daltom said, putting a finger on my lips and suddenly looking far surer of himself than I ever saw him before, “Just keep it with you. It’s the last thing I can do for you. The last thing I can change for the better.”
Daltom moved towards me, standing on his tiptoes, and before I realized what he was doing he kissed me on the lips. If I wasn’t red before, I most certainly was now. The boys were right! He was totally into his big sister! I wasn’t into my little brother. I wasn’t a pervert! Why did it have to feel so nice?
“Good bye, big sister.” Daltom smiled, turned, and began walking away.
“I- I- I-” my voice didn’t seem to be working at the moment.
Why did he have to do that right now? Why did he have to walk away and look all cool? He was my half-brother! Get a hold of yourself, Jane! Before I could pull myself back together, he was gone.
