After everything I know, thanks to this being Volume 8 of this story, I still am not sure just what is wrong with the female side of Daniels family?
I mean, if you’re looking for an in universe explanation, I’d say it really just comes down to them being exceptionally good looking.
Guys probably constantly do stuff for them, so they never gained common sense in the way you or I do… but since most men eventually want that from them, they also become quite distrustful of others.
They both don’t trust men, but are also constantly gaslit and lied to by them. That’s also probably why Daniel’s lies go in one ear and out the other. They’re used to every man lying to them nonstop that it just feels natural for Daniel to lie to them.
