Penny can hear his thoughts also I guess being stubborn runs in the family yet again Deek refuses to explain anything saying no one would belive him and how couldn’t they recognize him I don’t know maybe your not fat anymore and grew a whole foot and a few inches that’s not something normal for a college kid at least still growing in height. On top of that yet again you never tried to explain anything to them but then go they will never believe me anyway. I really do dislike that Deek knows not misunderstandings and lack of communication are the biggest causes for dungeons and yet he is allowing one to form if anyone dies in Richard party or his from these misunderstandings. And Penny since you can now hear his harem communication you should talk to the girls about what you heard or ask what they think about what they heard since you still believe that they are also hearing this communication.
See, i dont really know what to make about comments like these. I explain why he doesnt tell them very clearly. He doesnt care. He doesnt like them. I know readers might like them and want to see their unresolved drama solved, but not only is he not aware there is drama, he has no drive to solve it.
I could write him just sitting there explaining everything to them. They wont believe it. Do you want to read that? Six chapters of him with spreadsheets explaining how he is Deek and then ignoring him and disbelieving him?
I just dont find that to be a very engagibg story, but if everyone seems to think that unless Deek blatantly explains everything hes an idiot… i can have him explain everytning and it backfires spectacularly , but then people would say he explained it wrong… not like they would have done.
It feels like back with Otto is volume 2, where people said he was an idiot for not becoming a murder hobo and savagely killing a noble stronger than him in a world he still doesnt grasp compleyely.
Like, i dont get what what the problem is… everything one can imagine happening can and will go wrong. Hes acting how he wants without a readers birdeye view and a volume and 20 bonus chapters he wasnt present for. Thats just my thoughts. What do you think us needed?
what ‘confuses’ me (makes me wonder) in cases like these is that i see him doing both – he cares enough to do things like dress richard up as not having just tried to murder him – as though he cares enough to appease the two others from richard’s party with a memory of richard being a good guy trying to fix everything while simultaneously not caring to the point he doesn’t really care about the consequences of doing so either way?
(which is why I think no one would believe him or will call him out on his ‘bullshit’ there’s not enough truth to the lie he’s telling for him to convince anyone listening, where if he had told the truth the outcome would be the same and he’d be the one calling the failures out (which is what i do when i don’t care anymore) and this introduces to the antagonistic group an alternative – maybe richard did fuck up? what if he did? deek is often railroading himself into bad ends using this approach and has done so several times so far )
deek’s supposed to be a harem ‘hero’ at gold level law, which implied some deep understanding of managing groups of people who’re very close to each other (even if just his own) and yet he can’t or doesn’t care about anyone else while simultaneously wanting to save gaia and twilight and everything on it? it’s like his character is thinking on a single thread at a time and can’t think about any other angle while he’s on any given idea, he’s a bit of an odd ball this one. X)
(though, I do understand the desire to present an engaging story there have been a few times where similar things have happened prior in the story where i was left wondering if it wasn’t written just as contrivance for plot’s sake or if it was some stone set facet of the character/s, which can be a good question to be left with)
I genuinely have enjoyed the story and by extension your writing by the way, i don’t mean any of this as criticism of the work just personal observations of the character and the events, thank you very much for the story it’s been a great read.
Im not upset, i just explaining my choices and trying to understand peoples thought. I do appreciate all of these comments.
I dont really see him lying about Richard as a kindness, quite the opposite. He could argue what Richard did, but that would take far more effort.
To me, he disdains their affection for Richard… so letting them believe he died amicably is like saying to a drunk… heres a beer, enjoy. You dont have their best interest at heart and perhaps even just want to see them crash and burn.
I just see his reactions as very normal to me… but i do worry exactly like you said that events will come off as too contrived.
I put a lot of effort to make decisions clear and logical in my stories, so I do worry if things dont make sense.
bear in mind that what follows is me and my speculations based on my own reading of the story, and i hope that explaining them will be helpful/interesting to you.
(so your plans and perspectives should take priority i don’t intend to alter how you approach your work that would ruin the enjoyment i get from your work, but at the same time I enjoy the discussion XD)
when I read deek’s actions post confronattion my first thought was “why do you care enough to tell two different stories?” it’s no secret to anyone here that you and richard were at odds (though it is a secret as to why as is the severity of the reason, which deek did consider.) – which he was rightly called out on for by others.
my reaction was to think: just tell the same story and it’s up to the people who hear it if they believe you – to use these last few chapters as a bit of a case study he’s always been very literal and up front with the other party – ‘i can send you home’, ‘this is what my portal does’ ‘ask me for something and i’ll help’ “keep up or you’ll be left behind” ‘fight this way or face this consequence’.
(he ‘knows’ full well that despite their levels this other party is operating under misdirection and/or mis conception and inexperience and didn’t care to sugar coat it, he also knows that these last two cared a lot about richard and seems confused as to why)
and yet he chose this particular situation to seemingly change that trend for some reason? why? richard wasn’t owed deek’s effort to preserve his reputation.
the other two girls weren’t owed thier feelings being spared and deek didn’t need to curry favour with the other party or their supporters – it took more effort to fabricate a lie than to simply continue stating the truth.
these are the questions about these last few chapters left me with I hope they’re interesting to you as an author, because the story has certainly been interesting to me.
The story has been great it’s a fun read. Honestly all the characters have the ups and downs which really makes me like them more even through the hate I feel towards them at times as it feels more natural for charcaters/people to be flawed. The current drama with his mom(still unknown), cousin, and sis I like the tension I’m sure at some point things will come to light but for now it adds a bit of mystery on when and how it will come to light. Thanks for another great volumn and finish.
To the rest of the readers: If Deek is the new Harem ‘Hero’ its already been stated that ‘hero’ status is another lore that influences its holder, so you could say he treated the girls coldly due to influence of not caring for used girls deemed from another harem. Just my 2 cents but I always love thinking of weird Possibility no matter how wrong for stories I like.
I also want to start off saying I love all your stories and I don’t actually want to change how you write. It is just that my problem with Deek in this situation is that he has seen and been in many situations where a dialogue is all that is needed to be had to stop these dungeons and future problems from forming but he won’t even try to see if it would work. Whether they believe him or not is on them at that point but at least at the end Deek can be like I did everything in my power to stop this from coming to and it didn’t help but I at least tried. I understand him not caring about these people but then why try to preserve Richard’s and even explain that trying to fuse two souls into one is what caused this and that would also preserve his memory along with making the other party understand that maybe the reason Richard had been acting strange was because of that and maybe they all had the wrong idea of Deek or they could have not believed him and still it isn’t on Deek at that point.
There is a lot of things I could say. I wrote several giant paragraphs, but I don’t think I can get my feelings across well. I have answers to all the questions asked, but I’m not sure if I should even be answering them or even if you wanted answers.
Sometimes, I’m just tempted to write what people want… have the entire thing fall apart like I imagined it would, but then I know their response would be “well, I didn’t want it to be like that!”
Whatever specific scenario you have in your head where he could have somehow explained to Sarah, Penny, and a rando white mage that their friend is dead, that he died alone with Deek but it was totally not Deek’s fault, but even more so it was Richard who attacked him, and also he’s the real Deek, and Richard was a crazy person, and you’re just gonna have to trust him bro…
It just wouldn’t work. You’ll have to just trust me bro. XD
I do trust you ever story you have wrote I have enjoyed and I really appreciate you and all the work you put in. I know the problem is the way I read Deek to me he just seems hard headed sometimes.
I actually like that you said that. The last 4-5 voliumes, his entire arc is he’s becoming increasingly arrogant. So, hard-headed is exactly what I’m aiming for. I think like every bad guy he’s defeated has shouted something about how uncompromising he is. I won’t spoil it, but that part at least is intentional. I guess stubborness can come off as stupidity I probably should have thought of that before I said anything.
First, with a piece of his soul still imbedded inside Richard (who, sadly, will reappear sometime in the future), will Deek be complete in the end?
Second, having a 10$ suscription, why does it tell me I need a 5$ donation to unlock some chapters?
Hugs, Whizz
(facepalm) Yeah, congrats, Deek continues to be his own worst enemy
