i suspect some race core manipulation shenanigans – something reads off about shien’s story something fierce. the timings don’t seem to match up with what deek saw happen in the legacy, the old man was supposed to die to preserve shien, if he did that how’d he sire shao?
secondarily to that we know calypso stuffed around with the ‘core’s’ memories to try keep twilight’s avatar away from her – so i suspect either we (still) have multiple cores (which is more than possible given how many times they stuffed around with what used to be the oni core) or..someone isn’t who they thought they are
Likely it’s not a natural birth, while both believe what they saw to be true. Maybe the king saved her but with the power left he didn’t want her to be alone which perhaps drew upon the cores power and left her with child. The core while taken by Calypso was hollowed out and all info transfused into the unborn Shao.
So I either think that Shein either has some of her memories messed up due to the almost death and being brought back and maybe she and Shao are each part demon core while Shein is herself and demon core which is why her story doesn’t seem to add up. Shao is part demon core part what Calypso put in the demon core. Or maybe Twilight succeed and mad Shien her avatar back then and she is just tricking Deek and Shao is actually the core that feel into the water which ever is true she wouldn’t be lying about being Shao’s mom thought. I still believe Shao is the core though until proven wrong.
Edit: Also I just thought about this that also leads me to be suspicious of Shien is no other demon has mentioned being able to sense the core on Deek but her even Aberis and I know Deek believes he got it from Aberis but they have fought several times now and no version of him has mentioned to him to return the demon core which you think would happen. Plus like I said no other demon has said anything about it and it would make sinse because that can’t sense only Shien can because she is either Twilight in disguise Twilight’s avatar or a part demon core being.
