Chapter 3
“Come, let’s practice magic.” The prince grabbed Kate and pulled her from the room.
I raised my hand to say something. She looked back at me, but then she was gone out the door without saying another word. I stood up the chase after her, but suddenly the princess was standing there.
“You are the one with True Sight, yes?”
“I am…” I responded, trying not to be impolite.
“Then, please, follow me.”
People who were presumably masters came in and took one person after another. I was being personally led by the princess, so I didn’t feel like I could say much. As we left the dining hall and entered a hallway, the sound quieted immensely. All I could hear was my heavy footsteps and her light ones.
“Is the girl with brother your girlfriend?” She asked.
“Yes, she is!” I responded, and then blushed, not meaning to be so insistent.
“Her path will lead her to great things, just like my brother.”
I frowned. “What are you saying?”
She stopped at a door and then opened it. “Just that… some people are meant to be on top, and others are meant to just be the help.”
She pointed into the room we had stopped at. It appeared to be some kind of storage room, but it was filled with all kinds of junk. There were some swords, weapons, and armor, but there were also a lot of other things.
“What is this?” I asked, trying not to take her words offensively.
In her mind, she was a princess, and I was a commoner, so it wasn’t surprising if she said something rude or classist.
“This room contains the spoils of war. Sort it out, identify it, label it, and classify it. We’ll know if you take something.”
I looked into the room in confusion. “What about… a Master?”
“Your ability doesn’t need one.” She responded in an almost bored tone. “Just look at the item and write what you feel about it. Someone will check in the morning how much progress you made. Make sure you did enough work before going to bed. You need to earn your keep, and living in the castle isn’t cheap.”
With that, she didn’t say another word, and just turned and walked away. I felt a very complex feeling. She wasn’t amicable at all. However, she was a princess, so should I have expected her to be? At least she was blunt and didn’t put things behind honeyed words.
Since I didn’t know my way around, and this was where I was supposed to be while everyone else was training, I entered the room. With the door closed, I made a fist and muttered angrily for a bit, but then I remembered her comment about them knowing if I took something, and wondered if I was being watched.
With a deep breath, I sat down, grabbed the first item, and stared at it. It was a shield, and as I stared at it, I kind of got the feeling that if a magic struck it, that it would be extra resistive. I continued to stare at it for another five minutes and got nothing else out of it. With a sigh, I put it up. I found a desk with a quill and parchment on it. I wrote down the shield and what it did.
After doing three or four items, I started to grow more confident that that feeling was all I was going to get. I began trying to practice in other ways. I stared at a wall, trying to see if I could see through it. I also looked at my reflection. I lied and told the truth, trying to see if there was a difference. I may have been stuck with the ability that only let me identify items, but I wanted to get as good as possible.
I worked for many hours, and I finally called it quits. When I walked out the door, a guard was standing there waiting for me. He never bothered to knock, and I wondered how long he had been there. Could I have quit working earlier? At that point, it felt like it was probably closing on midnight.
He led me to my room. I stepped in to see that I was sharing it with four other guys. They weren’t sleeping, but were wide awake with a candlelit, chatting excitably. When they saw me enter, they greeted me.
“Where have you been? Most of us finished hours ago.”
“Where are the girls?” I asked.
“Look at this guy, always caring about his women.” One of the guys chuckled.
They weren’t angry or jealous though. They had long come to accept that I had those beauties hanging off my every word.
“Come on… give me a break,” I said, rubbing my back.
“Well, I heard your girlfriend come back only shortly before you. She left with the prince, and you left with the princess… you guys aren’t swapping partners, are you?”
“They’d be brother and sister!” I said with a disgusted look.
“So?” The guy laughed, “Incest is Wincest!”
“You’re disgusting.” I shook my head. “I’m going to go check on them.
“Yeah, whatever, girl’s rooms are over there.” He randomly gestured down the hall.
“Hey, did you guys notice that they never said demons?” One of the guys asked, already moving on with his conversation.
“What do you mean?”
“Well, they keep calling it the war, but they didn’t say something like a demon or demon lord. The otaku kid said demon lord, but they only just smiled and watched us.”
“What are you suggesting?”
“I’m just wondering… who are we at war with, and why?”
“It doesn’t matter, we’re the good guys. That’s how these things always work.”
Although their conversation did sound like something I wanted to hear, I was more worried about everyone. I left my room and walked down until I found a door and knocked on it. It was the teacher who answered.
“You shouldn’t be here!” She said. “You may spend nights with your girlfriend at home, but right now, i-it’s classroom rules!”
“It’s not like that! I just wanted to make sure everyone is okay!”
“Connor?” I looked at the door next to mine to see Kate peaking her head out of the door next to ours.
She was wearing a very pretty nightgown. Considering the teacher was wearing the clothes she came in, it instantly made me wary. I glanced at the teacher before addressing her though.
“I just need to chat for a minute.”
She thought about it and then nodded. “In the hallway, just a minute.”
I thanked her and then grabbed Kate and the pair of us just went about twenty feet away from the doors for some privacy. The teacher went back into her room after watching us a minute.
“Where did you get that gown?” I had not intended that to be the first question I asked.
She blushed. “The Prince gave it to me…but he said all of the girls were going to get clothing! He just happened to have it in my size is all!”
I found that very suspect, but I didn’t want to get into a fight with her now.
“Crazy first day,” I said.
“Yeah…” She responded. “Crazy…”
“Kathe-“ I started.
“Conno-“ She stated at the same time.
“You go…” I blushed.
“I heard that you went with the princess. Did you guys… do anything?”
“Anything?” I blinked. “Ah! No… she just showed me to a closet.”
“A closet, huh?” Her expression dropped.
“No, I mean, nothing happened! What about you and the prince?”
“What about us?” She said darkly. “Why are you suddenly getting defensive?”
“I’m not! I mean… Kate, I love you.”
“Yeah… you too…” She responded curtly. “I’m tired and going back to my room now.”
“Kate, I didn’t do anything. She was actually really bitchy. Ahhh shit!”
“What?”
I had put my hand in my pocket, and I realized there was a magic item I had put in it while I was juggling some things and forgot it. It was a magic item that I had determined that could be used for hearing sounds far away. Basically useless, but if they found I took it, it’d be a problem. Just as I was going to say I needed to find a guard to give this to, I heard one from right behind us.
“Hey! You two! Return to your rooms!” The man snapped.
He had a lantern in his hand and was glaring at the two of us. The pair of us had no choice. He watched as we both went back to her room.
“I’m sorry.” She spoke as she reached the door. “It’s just… all the stress. I didn’t mean to yell.”
“I’m sorry too.” I lowered my head. “I’m just… ashamed I’m not more useful… to everyone.”
“It’s okay…”
“H-hey! Connor!” Willow suddenly poked her head out the door between us.
“Willow, how was-”
“No time…” She leaned close. “We’re split into four rooms here, so I couldn’t tell at first, but… your sister hasn’t returned yet.”
“Faith?”
“She’s not in one of the rooms.”
Just as I was about to panic, I looked up and say the guard there. I glanced back down.
“Just… stay quiet. I’ll do something.”
Willow nodded and went back into the room. I turned away too, but I hadn’t taken two steps when Kate called my name.
“Connor… just be careful.”
I nodded, and then kept walking. I reached the door and grabbed the knob, and then carefully checked the guard. Thankfully, he was lazy and had already turned away, walking back the way he came. Carefully, I hid in a dark corner. As I stared at his back, I realized that the hallway was growing lighter. At first, I grew afraid my position would be given away. Then, I realized that this must be True Vision. I could see in the dark.
I carefully followed the guard, keeping a far distance from him and watching my back. We moved slowly down the hallway. I didn’t know what I was looking for, but I knew I had to find it. Eventually, the guard ended up coming upon two other guards. They were chatting, but they were far out of my hearing range. I realized I could see much farther than I used to. It was almost like binoculars. However, I couldn’t hear a thing. What good was True Sight if I couldn’t hear anything? It was just good for telling what magical items did.
That’s when I remembered the item in my pocket. I pulled it out. Just by looking at it, I seemed to know what it did. I used the item instinctively, and I soon could hear their voices like they were right next to me. I was in the middle of their conversation.
“My shift is about to end. I’m going to head down there. You coming?”
“What are you saying? The lines are horrible. I don’t like sloppy seconds, let alone hundreds.”
“Hey, at least that smelly girl smells good!”
“Whatever, man.”
The second he said smelly girl, my ears perked up. The man finally stood up and started walking away, and then I followed him. I was careful not to be seen, but even then, I had to hide twice as guards approached, and I almost lost him completely. Finally, he came to a place where there was a long line of guards. They seemed to be waiting outside a room. A guard would go in, and then come out a minute or so later. I used the device on the door.
Thwack. Thwack. Thwack.
“Ohhnn… fuck, I’m cumming.” A guy’s voice moaned.
“Mmm… mmm…” A whimpering muffled voice cried.
Without thought, I suddenly charged forward. The guards who were all lined up didn’t expect to see a boy sprint by them. They just looked in wonder as I burst into the room.
To my horror, I saw my sister on the bed. She was completely naked. Her mouth was stuffed with a dirty cloth, and her hands were tied to the bedpost. Her eyes were red like she had been crying, and her body and face were filled with various little bruises. A guard was kneeling on the bed. He had her legs spread open, and his pants down to his knees. His cock was out, and he was sliding it into her. There were tons of fluids all over her, to the point it looked like this had been happening for a while.
“What the hell are you doing?” I shouted.
My sister’s eyes met mine, and they were filled both with relief, as well as fear. The man turned and looked at me with surprise.
“Damn it! Can no one stop one little boy?” He barked.
A voice came from the hall. “Sorry, captain, he just came out of nowhere.”
“And what if he was an assassin! Dumbasses!” he pulled his dick out of my sister.
There was a sickening squish sound, and gushes of white stuff came squirting out of her. I looked on in horror, my entire body shaking.
“I’ll kill you! Look what you did to my sister!” I lunged at the man.
He snorted, and then while barely moving, he struck me in the throat. I stumbled back, feeling like I couldn’t breathe.
“Damn it… He’s the True Sight Guy.” One of the men looking in the doorway said. “The King was excited about that. If we kill him, someone’s head is going to roll.
“What… What are you doing? Why? What the fuck!” I croaked, holding my throat, collapsed on all fours.
“Sister… huh? Well, everyone has to work.” He grinned. “Your sister is just… improving troop morale. Aren’t you, sister?”
He reached out and pulled out Faith’s gag.
“P-please, brother… just leave! I-I’ll be okay! Please don’t kill him! Don’t Mmmm…mmm…” He stuffed it back into her mouth.
“See? She wants dick. All you have to do is be quiet. Once she satisfies all the men out there, she can rest, and then you both live.”
“I’ll tell everyone!” I yelled. “You think… you think any of us will help you after they found out what you did?”
I was so angry that I couldn’t think. It would have been smarter to just go along with it and then tell everyone after, but that also would mean I was leaving my sister to get raped by fifty more men at least. Who knew how many had already pleasured themselves on her in the six hours since she had been taken away.
The captain looked at the other men, and then let out a sigh. “Have it your way.”
He reached out and shut the door, blocking out the rest of the guards. Faith let out a cry, struggling against her bonds as the man turned to us menacingly.
“If you kill us, the others will ask questions! Your little ruse will be up.”
“No… you won’t tell anyone.” The captain side, walking over to the nightstand.
“Like hell, I won’t!”
He opened a door and pulled out some kind of magical item. I stared at it, and True Sight clicked even though it wasn’t in my hand. The magic item seemed to condense air. It basically turned gases into a solid. I couldn’t understand why it was there. He pulled out a small little crystal from the device, and then put it on the nightstand.
“I’ll tell you the truth of why we’re here. As I said, everyone has their use. So does your sister. She can emit any smell she desires. Smells aren’t as useless as people think. A rank enough smell can break a soldier’s concentration. Stink bombs are notorious means of demoralizing troops. However, your sister can produce something far more intriguing than that. Aphrodisiacs.”
“Wh-what?’
“Pheromones? The scent of arousal. Unfortunately, a virgin like she used to be doesn’t know how to make that smell. Thus, we’re doing this to train her body on sex. Once she’s become acclimated to the smell of it, she’ll make a pheromone that can boil any man’s blood with ease. Unfortunately, for the moment, she’s still a trainee.”
He walked to the door and then opened it.
“Wh-what are you doing?”
“That crystal over there is all of the pheromones she’s been able to produce in the last six hours. Regrettably, I now have to waste it on you. Tomorrow, she’ll need to work extra hard to make up for our lost efforts. In the meantime, it will now be re-released into this room in a concentrated form. Six hours of pheromone dumped out in less than an hour. You can probably already feel it. I know I do.”
“Wh-what are you trying to do?”
“A brother and sister… huh?” He grinned. “Let’s see how long you can hold out. By tomorrow morning, after the things, you will do to your sister… I don’t think you’ll be telling anyone!”
The door slammed shut and locked from the outside.
